A flywheel weighing 1500g is light, but not extremely light. Even the original Piaggio HP4 flywheel was lighter at around 1400g. The lighter the flywheel, the more responsive the throttle response, but also the higher the stress on engine parts including the clutch.
The optionally available additional weights increase the dimensions of the flywheel according to individual preferences. If the Vespa is ridden less aggressively, adding a few grams to the flywheel can lead to a smoother riding experience.
Note: the ignition system has an active adjustment of the ignition timing. It adjusts up to 8° with increasing RPM. This is an important factor to consider when adjusting the ignition timing.
