High-quality metal oil seal from Corteco for the clutch side of the Vespa PX crankshaft.
Suitable for both Vespa PX Arcobaleno and Vespa PX E models.

Rubberized Version or Metal?

Originally, completely rubberized oil seals were installed on the PX E models. In the oil seal seat of the engine housing, a groove was milled to ensure that the rubber of the oil seal essentially "claws" into this seat.
The metal oil seals have good precision and high stability. The seat in the PX is very narrow, making the fit of the oil seal all the more important. With the metal version, despite the lack of the groove, the seal is less likely to come loose. Piaggio omitted the groove on the Vespa PX Arcobaleno and only used metal oil seals.

Installation Notes

The oil seal should not be driven in using a socket, even if it might feel appropriate. Due to the narrow design and large diameter, the oil seal quickly tends to bend the "back" and become distorted, which may not be immediately apparent. The distance between the oil seal and the ball bearing behind it is very small. Often, if improperly installed, the oil seal will rub against the ball bearing behind it.
Using a suitable flat iron makes gentle and safe installation simple. The flat iron rests completely and evenly distributes the force on the slightly protruding outer ring of the oil seal. This prevents damage during installation. With caution and checking for correct fit, reliable installation is achieved.
