Fuel hoses often develop hairline cracks and should therefore be renewed regularly.
Due to material embrittlement, hairline cracks often occur during carburetor disassembly.
Fabric-covered fuel hoses are more durable but tend to kink more quickly. A lack of fuel supply is particularly critical in two-stroke engines.
The fuel hose should be replaced with every carburetor cleaning.
Fuel Hose Length
The fuel hose should be as short as possible and only as long as necessary. Since the Vespa carburetor is a gravity-fed carburetor without a fuel pump, the optimal length of the fuel hose is particularly important.
The fuel flow is only optimal if the fuel hose is not only the optimal length but also laid without kinks. Intermediate filters should be avoided if possible for the reasons mentioned above.
