Adjustment Options
The shock absorber is adjustable in spring preload 3 times using a special tool. This allows the suspension to be adjusted for different road conditions.
Low Preload
With the preload set to the lowest level, the shock absorber response is most sensitive. Small to large bumps are optimally absorbed throughout the shock absorber's entire range of travel.
High Preload
A higher preload makes sense for harder loads during sporty riding or with a passenger.
In such cases, the preload should be increased to adjust the shock absorber's response to the effectively available range of travel.
With too low preload, the shock absorber, for example, will compress deeply even when carrying a passenger, unnecessarily consuming available travel.
Excessive preload results in the shock absorber being less sensitive and the Vespa tending to bounce undesirably.
